nolan comicPart One: Calling all comic book fans of the 1940's thru the 1970's--local author Michelle Nolan has published an illustrated and historical book on the stories we all grew up loving, "Archie's Rivals in Teen Comics." Michelle will be interviewed tomorrow morning on Saturday Morning Live to talk about her book and how these comics influenced her life and the lives of many teens.

Part Two: The "Cancel Culture" is alive and well in Washington State politics as our state continues to lock down and shut out the kids from "in-person" educators during the Days-of-Covid. David Spring, M.Ed., and candidate for the office of OSPI was recently asked to participate in an interview for the office of OSPI with Chris Rykedal, the incumbent. How do you get your message out in today's political realm of, "I don't want to hear what you have to say?"

COMMON CENTS:

Alert-Alert! Whatcom County, Skagit County, San Juan County, Island County, and all of Washington State is still in lock down.

Is your business still shut down or operating at 25 or 50 percent of capacity? Do you believe that your governor, mayor, county council, executives, state, and federal representatives, do not understand what it is like to have a successful business and then be told that your business is non-essential?

Do you believe, as I do, that to subject our children to more delayed opportunities of an education; that requiring them to wear facial masks throughout their school day; that being forced to stay in one classroom for the full day at school, that our children should be taught that they must “follow the directional arrows in the hallway” and to only travel in the direction that the arrows tell them to; that your child should be told not to get too close to their friends, to hug them, or spend close time together; is the cruelest form of child abuse in our times? Then why haven’t you spoken up yet?

Do you believe that a virus which has already mutated over 200 times will successfully see a vaccine anytime soon?

Do you believe that if the governor does not change his measuring “guideline” for reopening from confirmed-cases back to the original goal of “medical readiness,” that your livelihood will be lost forever?

If you agree with these things I’ve outlined here and you want to do something positive for yourself, your family, your business, your employees, and the state, then contact all of your political leaders through their social media sites to demand that they make this change. Unless the governor approves this guideline change your county will remain at Phase 2 for many, many more weeks. Will your favorite store, restaurant, recreational facility, clothing store, beauty salon or barber shop, still be there in 2, 3, 4, or more months? Think about it!

The reality is that we must learn to live with this virus. To do that we must reopen all businesses, ensure that everyone has access to preventative treatments like Hydroxychloroquine and the latest early detection treatment, Budesonide—an inhaled corticosteroid. These two treatments taken in conjunction with zinc are proving to be effective in the treatment of coronavirus.

So, it is time for the silent majority to speak up and demand to be treated equally because we are all essential and no government should be allowed to cancel your existence. Stand up America – the time is now – your children are watching and taking their ques from you. Are you sheep? Or are you an independent people who are willing and wanting to take personal responsibility for your life?
