US Government Shutdown Attempts to Inflict Maximum Pain

This website is dedicated to local issues, so some of you might ask why I am sharing a post about Obamacare?  Well, Obamacare is affecting everyone including Whatcom County individuals and businesses.  Lately I have begun to hear people refer to the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, as ObamaScare.  After receiving my personal notification from Regence on the discontinuation of my current plan and what they can replace it with for double the cost, I believe ObamaScare is the right label to give this unconstitutional  affront to the American public.  How is it possible that the best and the brightest minds in Washington D.C. cannot contemplate the economic devastation that will occur when over 10% of your disposable income is taken away from the vast majority of the American, tax paying public?  How do you spell insanity? OBAMA SCARE, or OBAMASCARE? Karl Uppiano is the President of our local Whatcom Tea Party and frequently posts to his personal blog, Kakistocracy Report, Kakistocracy, (Government by the least qualified or least principled citizens).  If you have not met Karl or read any of his personal opinion postings, then you are in for a treat.  Whatcom County is blessed with a diverse community …

Affordable Health Care? Do we need another “Lemon Law?”

Are you asking President Obama and the Honorable Members of Congress, “You saved the people from buying a bad car, why not save the people from something far worse, Obamacare? That’s what lemon laws are for, aren’t they?” How do we grow jobs and business in Whatcom County or anyplace in the United States with this lemon hanging around our necks?  The Patient Protection Act was sold to the consumers as affordable and good for jobs and businesses.  How did something that sucks 10% of peoples household incomes from them, provides worse coverage and confuses the majority of the consumers now forced to buy-it and like-it, pass through the halls of Congress? From Wikipedia: “Lemon laws are American state laws that provide a remedy for purchasers of cars and other consumer goods in order to compensate for products that repeatedly fail to meet standards of quality and performance. Although there may be defective products of all sorts ranging from small electrical appliances to huge pieces of machinery, and there is even a “puppy lemon law,” the term “lemon” is generally thought of as applying to defective vehicles such as automobiles, trucks, SUV’s, motorcycles, etc.” ~ Kris Halterman Contact your representatives …

Congressman Larsen admits Obamacare isn’t perfect

In 2009 through 2010 the American public was very clear about how they felt about the passing of Obamacare (PPACA).  The publics response in 2009/2010, according to Congressman Larsen was, “No” and “Hell No!”  But Congressman Larsen let the little people know that he knew better and that Obamacare would slow down health insurance and medical costs immediately and curb the cost curve downward in the future. Two weeks ago I received the new rates for both my sons health insurance premiums and on a separate plan the premium rate increase for my husband and I.  Both are slated to take effect on January 1, 2013.  My sons plan increases from $102.00 to $220.00, with a  higher deductible, co-pay and out of pocket maximum as another kick in the rear for good measure.  The health insurance premiums for my husband and I are going from $556.00 per month for both of us to $1080.00 per month for both of us.  Again, higher deductibles, co-pays and out of pocket maximums. So now Congress has the opportunity to do the right thing for the middle class who will be crushed by these changes.  Whether it is due to a +100% increases in …
