This past Friday local Middle School youth spent their day at Northlake Community Church actively participating in presenting, testifying for or against, voting and passing bills, in the same manner that our Local, State and Federal Government operates. Their day began at 9:00 am and ended at 3:00 pm. Other than a brief break for lunch, everyone’s schedule was spent fully involved in the legislative processes; some bills died in committee, and others were passed through committee to be voted on by the Youth Legislators. If this activity wasn’t enough to fill the day; they also nominated, listened to campaign speeches, and voted for a Speaker of the House and Rules Committee Members.
Today’s Mock Legislature-Youth Event, was a Whatcom County wide invitation to all public, private and homeschooled Middle School youths from Cornerstone Christian, Bellingham Christian, Ferndale Middle School, Oak Harbor Christian, Lynden Christian and local Homeschool youths. The event was facilitated by, Hugh Foulke and Jim Swanson of Constitutional Education Services. It’s refreshing to consider that there are programs like Constitutional Education Services (CES) out there providing the future leaders of our Nation a taste of what is required to lead a nation.
Please enjoy the brief video I’ve captured of their event and/or click the bottom link to watch the full playlist, and if you’d like more information on CES’s services, you can call Hugh personally at (360) 312-0528.
